Back taxes

April 18, 2022 is the deadline for most people to file their individual income tax return and pay any tax owed.  An extension may be filed, allowing the return until October 15 to be filed, but taxes owed are still due by April 18.

Tax returns are checked by the IRS for mathematical accuracy.  Many people’s returns were held up last year as the IRS verified and sent millions of accuracy letters. We will work hard with you to make every effort to submit accurate returns. If there is any money owed, you will be sent a bill. Generally, interest is charged on any unpaid tax from the due date of the return until the date of payment.

If taxes are not filed timely, nor paid timely, interest and penalties will be assessed. The minimum penalty is the smaller of $135 or 100% of the unpaid tax. The longer you delay filing, if taxes are owed, the more you will pay. Don’t delay any longer, we can help walk you through the process of getting your tax situation cleared up and current.
